Working late tired dinner

Stick rice and water in the rice cooker. Don't forget to turn it on! Stick a pan on the stove. Dump into it:

Can of chopped tomatoes
Can of chickpeas
1 bay leaf

Turn on burner. Go sit at computer.

Sometime later... IT IS DONE!

Rice into bowl. "Sauce" onto rice. Grate some cheese. Add to bowl. Stir.

Stick it in your mouf. Swallow.

You are no longer hungry.

Cautionary tale?

Afternoon

Exley has a special chair for babysitting.

He will be a good dad some day.

New blanket!

Well, I haven't finished the hexagons yet, but I had an idea for a blanket made of strips. I started it!

The plan is to take these (which are blanket length):

And join them together thus:

And so on.

Awesome, correct?

It is for my other sister.

Seasonal poetry

There are late bloomers,

like me.

And

There are early bloomers,

like this tree:

I got this doll in Zimbabwe when I was five.

Isn't she great?

She has a baby that rides on her back.

In her bag is a swatch of knitting and toothpick knitting needles!

She lives on the bookcase.

Gentle Readers,

You may be wondering where I have been.

No, I did not run away to live with the skorls. I have been at my desk, in my office, working.

Big project—almost over...

Marital counseling

Your spouse will occasionally bring home certain of his childhood comfort foods (such as Sunbeam white bread).

It is best to keep your mouth shut.

New favorite!!

Classic Tales podcast: Right Ho, Jeeves, by P. G. Wodehouse.

It will make you snort aloud on the subway.

Malaysian food!

It's hard not to make a mess when you eat it.

It has been a long time since I ate lunch with just myself—no book, no newspaper, no friend, no radio. Just me.

Eat your food.

Look out the window.

Inspiration!

Move the rug into the bedroom, where there's more light!

Also: do it when Greg is not home so you can haul all the furniture around by yourself and get extremely frustrated and sweaty.

Then take a pichure for your blog!

And: when Greg comes home make him admire the new arrangement approximately 75 times.

(Those weird-looking things are my legs in boots.)

Top knots

Let your hair grow out then stick it in a bun on top of your head!

Spare change?

For a wet and shivering young thing, alone outside in the storm with no mate and not even a closet to call home?

Nope. I took a picture then kept walking.

Living in New York has made me so callous!
