A friend
Have you ever had a person in your life who you never see but you think of often and who is still your friend forever?
When I started my job five years ago, just having moved to New York like three days before, Tara befriended me. She worked in HR and was the nicest, friendliest, coolest person ever, with an amazing skill of making everything fun! I didn't know anyone and was very lonerly, and she introduced me to a lot of people and invited me out a lot, and it really made a difference.
She left the museum a couple years to expand her scope and I haven't seen her much, but I got a surprise package from her the other day!
Containing this letter:
And this little item "for further inspection":
Um, it is from the street. It has knitting patterns in it. It was next to a hamster rollercoaster!
Basically. The best. Ever.
Tara = #1!!!!!!!

That dress
You know the one I mean. It's kind of ugly and not your style but it fits and when you really need something clean to wear—its there!
This is my dress like that. Green, with a weird pattern, cost eleven dollars from a sale rack. I wear it like twice a year, but I've had it now for--four years?
Dependable.

Found on the street!
Some pleasant plays, 1947 edition.
I feel like this title page gave the typesetter a bit of trouble.

Tuesday night
Found!
Box of "votive candle in glass."
I took two that had no wax in them, and one came in handy right away! (I cut a piece from my fungussed cactus; hopefully it's healthy...)

Found!
A kind of interesting book:
It was first published in 1950 and this mass-market paperback edition is from 1959. It's not anything in particular that makes it special; it's just interesting to see what kind of books people were reading then and how paperbacks looked (and smelled and felt). For better or for worse, they just don't make them like this any more. And no back-cover review ever mentions canasta (what even IS canasta?)!
There is a lot more to books than the ideas in them. So don't go throwing them away just because you got the e-book! Give them to me!!!

Help!
There's a fungus among us.
I've been trying to nurse it but nothing is working and I don't really know what to do.

Launched
Greg's project on Randall's Island is officially done!
There was a reception, then a boat trip to the island. Greg gave a little talk by his work, then there were some pichures (with curators, funders, and parks officials).
On the special sod blanket.
Then some champagne and desserts under a tree (man, I love dessert). And another boat ride.
We saw two white herons and a hawk!

You know what's great?
What's great is when a baby comes to stay with you! Chris and Claudine came from Montreal and they brought Rose with them. On Sunday we went PS1 and after we looked at the art she played in some rain puddles.
Home, off with the wet clothes, then time to scamper around!! She checked out the belts (which we keep in a bushel basket, natch) then had a wild old time on the rug.
I love that little sweetheart!

"Hmm, should we justify the text left, or center it, or just start it 'wherever'? OR SOME OF EACH?"
Also: Do they pick the typefaces at random??

Graham Avenue yard sale
Staples!
Their design hasn't really changed in fifty years and they don't expire. Only a crazy person would buy them new!
I probably would have purchased the entire collection ("Eljit," "Tornado," "Majestic," "Tiger Brand"—awesome!) if my friend hadn't been there to advise me otherwise. (We went to look at bicycling caps instead.)
