New home

These cacti live at work.

They don't seem to mind though.

This little bud is coming home with me.

And here it is in its new habitat:

C'mon, grow!

Please?

Can I have this?

New obsession

A blanket for my friend Sarah.

One giant granny square! Inspired by the Purl Bee.

I made a start:

Whoops—I made a mistake on the red corner...

No one will notice.

Most favored napkins

For special occasions!

Note that they are all handstitched—someone spent a lot of time on these.

I love these and all old-timey linen items.

This article is not about me

But it should be!

Thanks Lotte.

Freezer times

Look at me: making chicken stock ice cubes! (Or ice muffins?)

Dang.

A giant wart!

Or . . . a pebble the exact color of my flesh?

I really, really crack myself up sometimes.

Ruh-roh

Bluejays on the squirrel nest.

"You kids get offa my lawn!"

Did those brats eat my seed stash?

Endless entertainment, I tell ya.

Dinner times

Canadian pork chops!

Sometimes you need to leave work on time, cook a nice meal, and sit at the table together.

It's good for that "marriage" thing.

I can't get him off the computer lately.

What do you think he's looking at on there?

Dear Rain

Did I ask for a foot bath?

No, I did not.

Did I ask to have my windshield cleaned?

No, I did not.

Did these flowers ask to get watered?

No, they—Well, OK, they probably did.

Blanket for my sister

Getting there!

Check out what I got from eBay:

Four dollars!

Woo!!

Yesterday

What made me think it was a good idea to wear a blue-and-white striped dress over rolled-up cherry-red cords with a giant striped scarf and an extra-small black cardigan—to work, in midtown? Not to mention black high-heeled boots? And brown iridescent plastic glasses and a big white hat????

It came home to me while I was walking down Sixth Avenue to get a sandwich. I gotta get a grip on myself.

Man!

Our neighbors upstairs drink an INCREDIBLE amount of Bud Light. This is like one day's supply.

I often hear them clanking up the stairs with their "groceries."

Someday

This...

...will look like this.

Can't wait.

Practically free

Napkins:

For my ever-growing collection.

Also, glasses:

Plus, milk-glass bowl:

Bonus picture! Bowl with strawberries!

All this and more for $5. I heart thrift stores.

(But the strawberries are from the grocery store.)

Spring squirrel

Makin' holes:

Diggin' up bullbs:

Causin' trouble.

Where's he sneaking off to?

Weekend tattoo

Yes, it is Moby Dick and the Pequod. Do you want to make something of it (besides a 470-page novel)?

Quartz?

The beach rocks of Long Island are suprisingly translucent.

Spring sunlight.

Oh crap

I just remembered that last night I dreamed AGAIN that my teeth were crumbling and falling out. And I couldn't find the dentist's phone number.

Morning times in Brooklyn

The sun.

Jamesport morning

Ten hours of deep sleep in perfect quiet.

Then this:

Maybe we move there?

Jamesport

We were planning to drive back to the city the same day, but we were enjoying being relaxed so much that we decided to stay the night in Jamesport.

Our motel had a little beach:

Kitty trail in the sand:

At sunset a swan swam by!

Did they train it to do that??

We had a big dinner down the street and a bottle of wine. Then we went to bed at 9.

Best daycation ever!

Wm. J. Mills & Co. Sailmakers

In Greenport, Long Island, we stopped in at this place.

It was basically heaven.

This red bag is an "ice bag": it can hold a fifty-pound block of ice! I really wanted one—but . . . when do I carry ice?

Greg got these:

I got a "diddy" bag!

I call it Puffy.

I love old-timey canvas items!
