See above

Change of season in our backyard.

Tangled up in orange

When they ask you at the yarn store if they can make your skeins into balls . . . SAY YES!

*sob*

I spent last Sunday making a sweatervest for my teddy bear

It was basically the best day of my life.
Soon his little shoulder straps will have fancy buttons! He loves it.

Our other bathroom friend

OK, this is a nice arrangement, right? A few shells, some beach rocks, and a egg case from Martinique Beach in Nova Scotia.

BUT it is even better than you realize: CHECK THIS LITTLE DUDE OUT!

One hundred percent as we found him, except I gave him a nose job.

For the first time in my life ever.

Information

Do you need some information?

I scavenged (stole?) this from a library in Midtown that was being emptied out—I rescued it from the jaws of a dumptruck.

Friday night party

I must interject to point out Andrew's CRAZY EYES in the above pic.

Bears don't read blogs

So Nicky won't find out he is getting a new bowtie for Christmas!!

UPDATE: added a lifesaver.

Some weirdos.

It is always eleven minutes to seven in our living room

Greg and I agree that it is eleven minutes to seven AT NIGHT, not in the morning. I didn't find this exactly, but I did get it for $5 from a yard sale... It basically was a dream come true. I had been wanting such a clock for a long time—like the ones we had in my elementary school! One day I will get it running again.

Found tonight!

Shout out to my sister...

...who is feeling blue.

There. Now you feel a bit better. Love, sis.

Sheep friends

Augh, commercial wool makes sheep's lives horrible!! No more of that for me. I guess I will have to find some old sweaters to unravel...or another fiber (recyled?).

Thanks Bonnie.

Pointsettia

I saved my pointsettia from Christmas last year. Do you think it will turn red and bloom this year?

Bathroom friends!

Our bathroom friends have acquired some pink beads! One of them seems to like it a lot.

Sarah H. found the bracelet on the street and gave it to me. I left it in the bathroom, and Greggy gave it to the little guys. Very nice.

October 27, 2008

OMG!

Sarah H. brought these little ceramic dewds for Greg and me. Lookit their little pawses!

Free plates!

I found these four brown-and-white plates on the weekend. The consensus is that they are too ugly to keep.

You want em?

Check out our dresser!

It used to be black and new and perfect, but that didn't sit right with us. First we sanded the hell out of it, then we replaced all the matching knobs with mismatched glass, metal, and wood ones. That still didn't do the job, so I painted it (with "Oak Buff" paint found on the street). Then a couple months later I painted all the knobs. That was better, but then I edited a book about Roy McMakin and got INSPIRED. NOW it is really perfect.

Flowers

In the porcelain pen-and-pencil holder in my office at work I have two kinds of roses.

A beautiful cloth and wire pink flower, made by my friend Sarah Kilpack...

And these orange candy flowers, which Greg swiped from a birthday cake given to Whoopie Goldberg by Oprah!

Whoopie lives above the shop in Soho where Greg went for a job interview. I guess she wasn't so into the cake (or Oprah?) so she gave it to the shop people.

Our guestroom

So this is the bed in our guestroom (now occupied by Sarah H.—yay!). Greg built it last year when this was our bedroom. Note that it is lofted about 4 feet above the floor.

For two nights we had to scarmble up from the floor onto the bed, and then kinda slide off in the morning. BUT THEN—we found these on the street in Soho in front of a theater:

COMPLETE STEPS! ALL IN ONE PIECE! We were with friends in a mininvan, so we brought them home and screwed them on. They fit perfectly!!!
