Apollo Theater

Bonnie Prince Billy was incre-e-e-e-e-e-e-dibly good! Wow!

Harlem

It could not be more different from Greenpoint.

Wide streets, beautiful buildings. Some boarded up with triangles cut in the wood. Others sealed with cinder blocks. Many others beautifully maintained or restored.

Faggot

Bundle of sticks.

Time to clean the window.

That's better (stuck my head out).

Morning visit

Male cardinal. Very shy.

If I leave the window open . . .

. . . maybe a kitty will come purr and blink in the sunny patches?

Found last night!

Bundle of books.

Including:

Life magazines from 1971.

Mediocre life drawings by someone I never heard of.

Artist's Way! Ha.

Japanese book about New York store windows, published in 1990.

And—AWESOME!—this Giant Golden Book published in 1956:

Gods and mortals.

Trojan horse.

Circe.

Sirens.

Slaying the suitors!

As Greg said last night, I got my "finding stuff" mojo back!

It wouldn't have been worth it

As I took this picture a car backed onto me (almost).

Further planning

Sister's blanket.

Each block made of four squares joined with green, then a green border, then a pink border.

What do you think?

Greenpoint

It is pretty.

If you point the camera upward!

More free money!

There was a broken Tizio lamp in my office when I moved in three years ago. Two engineers came in coveralls to change the lightbulb and discovered that the whole head was burnt out. They were going to trash it so I took it home and bought a new head for it from Artimede for $50.

But now I am tired of it . . .

Three bids so far on eBay!

Yay!

Behold, children:

The dry, callused (and strangely yellow) finger of the chronic crocheter.

Blanket!

Plan for the blanket I am making for my sister:

Blocks made of four squares each, two with light/warm borders, two with dark/cool borders.

Joined with green and with a green border!

I'm going to make another border row of some color or other, then sew them all together.

Sometimes

I like to use the plastic plates.

Embrace the lowbrow!

Found in the fridge

Food for a squirrel.

They love wizened apples.

More hoarding

Corks for future bulletin board.

Does anyone remember the Happy Hollisters?

Besides me?

More endpapers of your youth.

OH MY GOD

The underside of the fiberglass chair I just found on Driggs Ave:

I LOVE FREE MONEY!

Whoa.

This rock spontaneously broke itself.

Weird.

Hoarding instinct

I stuff my tiny yarn scraps into this mason jar.

I do not know why.

(Note: giant tooth in left foreground.)

Found!

An awesome chair!

Fiberglass!

I need to get some rubber foot thingies for the legs, but other than that it's in pretty good shape.

Web exclusive!

Never before captured on film:

Once a day during a certain time of year, sunlight penetrates twenty feet down a three-feet-wide gap between our building and the next and shines into our bathroom.

Flowers!

Beautiful rose bush in my neighborhood:

Sigh. Nice.

And flowers inside too!

Yep, I got the second paper garland for the window.

Oh, whoa!

I guess we split it. (I totally thought I had him.)

Greg, Anna and I played an impromptu game Saturday night.

Our desk chair

It is so squeaky!

Greg fixed it:

Good job Greg!

The answer is yes!

Yes—it could get cuter!

Edmée got a new flower to pin to her playsuit. Thanks Attic24 (best crochet blog evar)!

She loves it.
