Will someone please bring me this lunch?

Now?

Thanks Hello Sandwich!

Found!

A dirty old flowered tin!

It was on the sidewalk in a recycling bag with the Skippy jar and the Tupperware bowls.

Pu-u-u-u-re gold!

Wolfville, Nova Scotia

Possible to travel back in time to early August?

Last night

The prospect of laundry and grocery shopping was making us cranky and depressed, so we said fuck it and went for a run then watched tennis, drank wine, and played Scrabble (well, a game like Scrabble).

Much more satisfactory.

Whales and Whaling

Greg pointed out that I didn't include any actual pictures of flensing.

So here you go:

Flensing!

(Hey, remember that Judy Blume book Blubber?)

Dancing in the Dark

If you want to read a book about being beautiful, married, thirty-two, and living in New York in the 1980s, this is the one.

It's sort of a sister to Bright Lights Big City.

I found this on the street a while back and just read it for a second time.

Finished!

Chapeau pour un bébé.

Magnifique, non?

Made with yard sale yarn.

It's true

Speaking of trivets, I would like to mention that I sold that crocheted grape number on Etsy for $12 (the first and only item I have sold there).

Yup, that's a 500 percent profit, baby!

New book!

Our second "real book" about the ocean.

As Greg was looking at this book for the first time a few days ago, from the other room I heard him exclaim, "OOOOH! Flensing!!"

Hee hee.

Orange(ish)!

Another pointy hat for a baby, in progress.

Query

If you lived in this house...

...would you TRIM THE DAMN TREES!?

I thought so.

Apparently these people (who live across the street from my mom) like their privacy.

Trivets

Made by my grandfather, Melvern C. Hoff, the type of man who wrote the date on things he made.

1971!

Apocryphal family story: back in the day, a young friend of my brother saw the trivets on the table, yelled "Chocolate!" and tried to eat one.

Summertime memory

Evidence of skorl activity at the cabin.

Elementary, my dear Watson!

(Also they liked to steal the toilet paper.)

Question

How is this man holding this child?

Odd!

Classic

Governor's Island.

Rooftop dining

It's fun.

And you can spy on people.

Now what are they up to over there?

Hm. Nothing much.

Dinner was decent though!

Value Village

More things I considered buying:

Turtle versus snake!!

From when I was two years old.

In case Greg and I never make a friend.

Money-making machine.

I regret not getting that last item.

This is Sophie

She can be querulous. But look at her!

Purr purr purr.

Dainty paws.

Sophie lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Guffaw

I'm making this sweater for Greg I don't even CARE.

Dog

Not feeling good about life.

Greenpoint full moon

The view from the stoop of our new apartment.

Beautiful.

Found!

Two books:

This one is signed by the author.

I've never read Willa Cather.

Now I will!

On the table

Pom pom maker, camera case, salad, new handbag!

Brisket!

Yes, fifteen pounds of beef.

Reading material:

Amazing stacking old-timey Tupperware bowls found on the street!

I love stuff.

Excitement

I think I may have to go to this.

Yep. More items for the ol' "junk locker."
