Nice chair, right?
I found the frame on the street; it was painted a hideous brown over layers and layers of various other colors. It was upholstered with something equally ugly. I took FIVE layers of upholstery and dusty old padding off it. It was like unwrapping a mummy.

Greg sanded the frame and I painted it (with paint found on the street). Greg did the upholstery using a pillowcase we already had and some new strapping. It worked out!
I heart free stuff!

Another artwork saved from destruction. I found this down the street on trash night.

Found: a giant tooth!
Greg picked this up from a rocky riverbank when we were in Quebec last summer, and he gave it me.

It obviously belonged to a plant eater. Greg thinks a moose or bovine (is bovine a noun?).
The tooth is stained with red a bit because I was playing tricks with it on Halloween:
"OH GOD!!" [hand to bloodied mouth]
"ACK!!" [spits blood into palm onto giant tooth hidden there]
"MY TOOTH!!" [displaying giant bloody tooth]

Dinner and Scrabble
I got dinner handed to me, then I got my ass handed to me.

Although Greg's victory depended on my admission of "depender" (curses!).

Beloved animal story
A fox named Star and the boy who hunts him.

I think Haunt Fox was my father's when he was a boy; I see it came from East Williston, New York. I recently reread it—and I still love it.

Getting a little exotic
Thirsty Turtle restaurant, Best Western Hotel, Richmond, British Columbia.

Dudes you really need to get out more. Chicken pot pie is not even a LITTLE exotic.

The other windowsill
I found this mug (a gift for Greg) in a "free" box:

Awesome.
Remember those herb seeds I found a while ago? I am trying to grow them. Nothing is happening:

And I picked up this piece of marble with metal fittings on a beach in Quebec:

It was some kind of switch, I think.
I like.

Christmas cactus
Smuggled into Brooklyn from Canada (I wrapped it in like five feet of toilet paper):

Nice, right? A gift from Greg's brother Jim and his husband, Trevor.
I was going to crop this picture but then I decided I liked how you can just see the spines of the other cactus sticking into the image on the right.

Who is this...
...behind Greg's hair, on the left?

He is shaking hands with the owner of Olympia Restaurant on Denman Street in Vancouver. FAMOUS!

Victoria coffee shops
We were going to go here...

...but then we thought, what the hell—let's enjoy ourselves!
So we went down the street to this place:

'Twas very pleasurable.

(That stuff in the middle is phytoplankton, to cure our colds.)

Our friend Claudine recently returned from Mexico with these pictures of the squirrels of that land:

Greg and I came across this little guy at the Royal British Columbia Museum in Victoria. You can imagine how excited we were.

Between us we took like 75 pictures of it.

Enigma
Greg and I purchased this hand-embroidered tea towel at Value Village in Vancouver.

We do not understand it.

Saint Vincent de Paul
I found these placemats and napkins in his thrift shop in Vancouver:

Can anyone identify the double-P (or PD) logo?

We made it home!
The squirrel greeted us by eating a piece of bread on top of his nest:

Thanks buddy. We are glad to see you too.

Beach finds
Blue glass:

Sea dime:

Some nice stones, nicely arranged:

Piece of a super day-glo buoy:

Greg conquered this barrel:

It has barnacles and stuff on it!

Must have been in the sea for a while. I wonder what it contained. It's empty now.
Clear glass:

Driftwood for our wood collection:

An oyster shell!

Magnificent.
