Behold, children:

The dry, callused (and strangely yellow) finger of the chronic crocheter.

Blanket!

Plan for the blanket I am making for my sister:

Blocks made of four squares each, two with light/warm borders, two with dark/cool borders.

Joined with green and with a green border!

I'm going to make another border row of some color or other, then sew them all together.

Sometimes

I like to use the plastic plates.

Embrace the lowbrow!

Found in the fridge

Food for a squirrel.

They love wizened apples.

More hoarding

Corks for future bulletin board.

Does anyone remember the Happy Hollisters?

Besides me?

More endpapers of your youth.

OH MY GOD

The underside of the fiberglass chair I just found on Driggs Ave:

I LOVE FREE MONEY!

Whoa.

This rock spontaneously broke itself.

Weird.

Hoarding instinct

I stuff my tiny yarn scraps into this mason jar.

I do not know why.

(Note: giant tooth in left foreground.)

Found!

An awesome chair!

Fiberglass!

I need to get some rubber foot thingies for the legs, but other than that it's in pretty good shape.

Web exclusive!

Never before captured on film:

Once a day during a certain time of year, sunlight penetrates twenty feet down a three-feet-wide gap between our building and the next and shines into our bathroom.

Flowers!

Beautiful rose bush in my neighborhood:

Sigh. Nice.

And flowers inside too!

Yep, I got the second paper garland for the window.

Oh, whoa!

I guess we split it. (I totally thought I had him.)

Greg, Anna and I played an impromptu game Saturday night.

Our desk chair

It is so squeaky!

Greg fixed it:

Good job Greg!

The answer is yes!

Yes—it could get cuter!

Edmée got a new flower to pin to her playsuit. Thanks Attic24 (best crochet blog evar)!

She loves it.

Thank you Donald B. Marron!

Suite.

Sweet!

Token of affection

I did it.

I surprised Greg with a big ol' rock on his birthday.

He's worth three months' salary.

I have been informed

That it is normal to clean not only one's stovetop every night but one's burners AS WELL.

I'm not sure I'm up to the challenge.

Baby animals!

Fluffy house finch youngster at our feeder!

It just perched there and ate and ate and didn't know enough to be startled by the camera.

How are you feeling today?

Make an assessment.

Most prized possession

This is an amazing piece of work: an oval of wood, with bark carefully outlined, topped with a cat-shaped wafer with a woodburned drawing, plus the word "Canada."

The whole front is smothered in about a quarter-inch of varnish; it is indestructible.

Which is good, because unbeknownst to me Greg was using it as a shim for one of his desk legs!

I guess it was just the right height.

Greggy birthday presents

What in heck are they?

Black bean moon cake

New form of deliciousness for my life?

Hmmm. Good but a bit . . . dense.

Drawing

I found this crumpled up in my bag.

Looks like Greg started it and I finished it.

Christmas cactus

Keep it cozy.

Good deed

Greg and I helped Beth move her studio (out of this building).

To thank us she made us dinner.

Bread pudding:

Cake!

Maybe if you're lucky she'll let you help her move next time.

Leviticus board redux!

OK, remember this board I found?

I saw another one in the same spot!

Too small to join the collection though.

Then. Now:

Cat whisperer

I crocheted a toy for Sunday.

I know what the kitties like. Aw yeah.

Found

Metal canister!

Perfect for containing our board collection.

(Note: black doormat also found on the street.)

Weekend work

Oof. Worth it tho.

Sunday sunshine

On my feet.

Late-night park

Full moon.
