It's fall

Lumberjack season.

Midtown sunset

Looking west through fritted glass.

Found last night!

I am powerless against the allure of cigar boxes.

I may or may not already have several of these.

Books, of course:

There is a Simenon "Maigret" novel that did not make it into this picture. It, Borges, Wilde, Ballard, Beckett, and Dickens are for me. The rest are for the Internet. (I already sold the Sandman and Love and Rockets books!)

And, an excellent metal Homak toolbook, complete with red tray and sawdust!

For all my stuffs!

The street giveth to ol' Becky.

Dear world

Are you trying to give me a heart attack!?

Of JOY??

Street books! Including a notebook containing this enigmatic composition:

Awesome!

Old timey

I have never seen a box spring like this.

Looks squeaky.

GIANT FAKE CONDIMENTS-N-BAGEL!

Lexington and 80th Street.

I wonder how old these are?

I'd love to have that jumbo mustard jar! I'd keep it in the fridge.

I made this!

Elotes, at home! (With brito and greenbeans.)

I love Mexican food. One way in which New York beats any Canadian city.

I think I AM cursed

First this, and today this:

What even IS that? The screen is almost totally blank, but it's actually covered with a window; you can see the little edge at the bottom. But it will not move, hide, or minimize.

And where are all the docs I was working on?!

Sigh.

Force quit.

Tomorrow: call I.T.!

If I find $298 on the street

I will buy this dress.

Everyone start dropping money!

I love these

I found these alphabetized address cards in a recycling bag full of paper ephemera on the street, next to the bag with the Skippy jar and the Tupperware containers.

These are relics of a truly different time: a time when you typed the addresses of your neighborhood friends on individual cards and kept them in a file box on the table next to your phone.

Then, at Christmas, you sent cards to all of them.

I could cry.

Truck dreams

We like whitey, but this brown baby is also VERY sweet.

When will the future be here!?

UPDATE

Cactus mini-friends: Why is Greg's SO MUCH BIGGER?

Perhaps his cat talisman is more powerful.

Décor

On the table:

Greg is the genius who put the shell hat on the birdie.

Best centerpiece ever.

Subway paint spill

Then. Now:

Manna from Brooklyn: "Keeping You Posted."

My friend Peter

"Here are some photos I know you'll like," he wrote.

This is his cat, Sophia.

Command-option-kitty.

Big kitty?

Who is this guy?

Puppet show.

Thanks P-rock, you were right!

Work flair

Yes, it's my office door.

And there is my office door handle pom pom!

Thanks Hannah!

Aw, shucks!

Thanks for the shout-out, skinny laminx and sfgirlbybay!

And thanks all y'all for visiting my shabby Brooklyn lodgings!

INCREDIBLE!

Last night, I met Greg at the new studio after work. On the way to the building from the subway, I found this chair!

It's an old one, made in Eldred, Pennsylvania.

Good condition. Contents: hog hair (78%), horse mane (11%), and "rubberized garnetted wool clippings" (11%).

(They must have shaved a lot of hogs?)

I left it in the studio's "hang-out corner."

Then, as we walked home I found this, in a bag hanging on a fence:

Yep, it's a 26 cm enameled steel Le Creuset frying pan.

Perfect condition except . . . it needs a replacement phenolic plastic handle.

Alright! Now I can sit in a chair and fry things!

Staple stab

It's not all fun and games being an editor.

Bear friends

Greg went to Toronto on the weekend, and I was all by myself.

I was lonely, so I got these guys out. We had some good conversations.

Today they're having a lie-in.

Gonna lounge around and whisper and giggle all morning.

I believe they call that "semi-hibernation."

Supper

I cleaned the greenbeans last night.

Yep, our table is also our desk and a kitchen counter, because until Greg gets his studio set up he can't build me a desk or build our extra surface in the kitchen.

SOON!

(PS: Giant beans!)

Sniiiiff, ah!

You know that awesome smell where you can't tell if it's food or sweat?

That's what 53rd Street smelled like yesterday when I left work.

Yum yum!

(Barriers: not because of the smell. The UN is in session, and lots of motorcades passed today.)

Worst book ever written?

I found this first edition on the sidewalk last year.

Just sold it for twenny bucks! Aw yeah.

September 22, 2009

Found a brick!

There were a few of these in a little stack by a restaurant on Meeker Avenue.

This will be a great wedding present some day, for a couple with initials P and M . . . who are rilly into crappy old bricks!

I know they're out there somewhere!

Bought

Whenever I see Vintage Contemporaries I have to buy them (remember Dancing in the Dark?).

These were fitty ("fiddy"?) cents each at a thrift store in my neighborhood.
