This awesome book I remember from when I was a kid!

It's about an orphaned Inuit girl who runs away from home and has to live in the wilderness. She runs out of food and tries desperately to befriend a pack of wolves. Pretty good story, and also excellent details of Inuit wilderness survival!

Yay for books that cost a dollar!! Although sadly it fell apart as I read it, a problem with paperbacks from that era. (I bought at at the Center for Fiction bookstore, which I just discovered ... all books $1 to $4. And they have an ebook library!!)

Archaeology

Unearthed:

A fragment of the past.

I estimate that this has been buried since 1988.

Dear landlady,

We separate paper and cans-n-bottles from the rest of the trash and put them in clear bags for a reason.

Which is "recycling."

Therefore we would prefer if you did not put the clear bags inside black bags and dump them in the trashcan THANK YOU!

(WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?)

What's for dinner?

Pasta!!

Ah ha haaaa!

Street sculpture

This is what you get when you leave half a bag of cement out in the rain.

A surprisingly popular form of public art in Greenpoint.
