That is very interesting and it makes total sense! They had been flitting about the yard for some time.
My chickens used to sun themselves this way on nice days, I always thought to kill off the lice.
I was going to make a joke about what I do when I have lice, but then I realized—what the...? You have chickens??
Alas, not any more. But I would highly recommend them, they are so fun to watch. Like little dinosaurs.
Did you eat them? Or were they pets? Did you live on a farm?
We were rural before we lived in Truro, we had chickens and goats. They were layers mostly but we ate some, usually the extra roosters in the spring. Very excellent for soup.
