    It seems funny to me that this kitty (?) is clearly a planter/plant basket what-have-you and yet the plant is not in it but rather next to it. ???

    You MUST put something in that Kitty's backpack. Maybe even just a note. Or one little ball of yarn per day, like the Kitty is collecting them. That would so mess with your landlady's mind.
