My little girl kept picking these things up and giving them to me to carry for her on our walk today, they're quite pokey on the hands when when carried in en masse you know.
p.s. reading your blog made me laugh several times, thanks :)
We had a tree full of those things when I grew up. The lawn was an absolute minefield of prickles. But when my dad wanted to chop it down (too close to the house, lightning paranoia) I was outraged. He still chopped it. It's a seedpod from a Liquid Amber tree.
This is the kind of thing that I always want to take to a jeweler and have cast in silver. Wouldn't that make an awesome cocktail ring? Or earrings?
