Well, I found a few things on the way home

This bowl!

These herb-grower/seed things:

This, err, volumizing tonic:

And, this lil goat:

It was all just sitting there in the bowl on the sidewalk by my bike! I had to take it.

The jury is out...

...on this mirror.

Yes, it has koalas silkscreened on it.

I found it down the street a couple months ago on trash day.

(Hmmm. Kinda wish I had moved the Sriracha before taking the pic.)

I am a dork

This little fellow is named Crazylegs.

He belonged to my mom and her siblings when they were little. Now he lives at my grandma's.

Here he is...um...going for a walk.

Doot de doot de do.

Hee hee heeeeee!

Look at this

My nephew Joshua just turned 5. When you take his picture he assumes a special stance:

Here he is with his sister, Sabrina. My cousin Catherine (above) took the pic.

I think he is being a fairytale prince. (See Sabrina? That is Rebecca, age 3.)

Things to remember

Glamor. No, glamour. Confusing for a former Canadian.

Check it out

This is a very interesting old (1998) book about tree planting in Canada.

A representative spread:

Wait—something looks...familiar. Greg? Gregory...Reynolds? Is that you?

Here he is again, in the "cook shack" (facing the camera, in the background with his foot out):

What are these cardinals doing?

They are both standing with their wings hanging—but why?

Weekend tattoo

Greg and Rebecca meeting in the "soul" tunnel. Dang.

I bought a red ribbon

Now the bowtie is complete!

Do you like to laugh?

Um, you have to like comics too. Really bad, old ones.

Dynavent Gas Furnace friend!

Across the street from our house.

A very odd bag

As we walked home from the L train last night, Sarah H. and I stumbled across a large, abandoned paper bag on the sidewalk, filled with an assortment of items:

Two silk-covered cushions in a plastic shopping bag

A cream-colored silk-and-cashmere women's cardigan, size large (lightly worn)

A brand-new black-and-white print dress from Ann Taylor, with the tags still on it (apparently it was going for $79)

Three packages of large Dixie cups

A pair of brown-and-blue women's Pumas (size 40), brand new in the box.

We left the cushions but took the other stuff. Sarah has a new dress, I have a new sweater (it's a bit big, but still...), and one of us (as yet undetermined) has a new pair of sneakers. And I guess the Dixie cups are mine since I did bring them home with me...

Andrew's diamond

He found this incredible plexiglass (I think?) diamond in the garbage and customized it with a Sweet Icicle Light I got for a couple bucks at the staff sale at work. Pretty rad!

Bike decoration

Greggy has some special ornaments on his bike.

Hee hee...!

Speaking of our desk...

...check out this amazing chair. Found it down the street, gave it a coat of white paint. (I am sitting on it right now!)

It really is a very nice old wooden desk chair—probably oak, in perfect condition: springs, casters, carved wood.

Prints by Greg

He is off work this week and has been spending a lot of time at the studio.

Happy Thanksgiving holy crap our desk fell off the wall!

The weight bent the screws and the two-by-four came out of the wall. (In the pics below it is propped up by a piece of wood.)

Our living room is a disaster, compounded by the fact that we drank two bottles of wine in it last night in the middle of the mess.

We probably had 300 pounds on the back of the desk: very heavy black oak shelves (found on the street) (you can see them below in the doorway at the back of the pic) filled with art books; two computers, a scanner printer, files galore, art supplies... I am not really surprised it finally gave out. Yep and now that stuff is strewn all over the room.

Greg heroically saved my new computer.

I have been busy

Check out this tower of power:

Now you must admire them individually.

I need about 40 more squares. It is going to be a very nice blanket.

I ADMIT

THAT I FOUND A BAG OF DRIED BEANS ON THE STREET AND COOKED THEM AND MADE BURRITOS!

November 24, 2008

We decided to have a big dinner last night

Greg roasted a chicken and bought a bottle of wine. Sarah made sweet potatoes, stuffing, and kale. I made gravy and a pie.

The birds and squirrels got the apple cores and we all had pie for breakfast this morning.

I believe...

...that a tufted titmouse came to our feeder yesterday. Click here. I hope we'll have our own pics of it soon.

Found on the street

Who is this?

Grandmother's house

I visited my grandmother this weekend. My brother and Aurelia, my sister-in-law, were there with their kids, and so Grandma got out some of the old toys.

I almost cried from nostalgia when I saw this guy:

My siblings and I had a twin of this horsey when we were kids; his name was Grassy Gullet because he had a square hole in his neck into which we stuffed grass. Um...I am not sure why.

Also: A MYSTERY!! In Grandma's garage:

A very nice tool caddy made by my grandfather.

BUT WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS LITTLE NOTE!?

Grandma?

The squirrel's house

This is the view from our kitchen.

In the ball of stuff at the top of the pole is where the squirrel lives.

This morning I saw it gathering green leaves in its paws and carrying them into the den (scampering along the telephone wires). Must be insulation for the winter.

Found fer the fridge

So, on our refrigerator we have a few items that I found on the street.

Look at this INCREDIBLE sandpaper letter R. Its a magnet! It's my initial! Found in a box in Williamsburg.

This EXCELLENT kitty picture. Found in a "free" box on my street. You can almost hear it purring, right? (Also: note that its paws look like hands...?!)

And, last, this (in the "free" box with the cat picture):

I am lucky.
