Nightime preparations

I like to make mornings as easy as possible.

Patent leather

At the office today.

Flats, clogs, and loafers. Can you guess which is me?

Hint.

Decorative

Remember this?

Well, now the box holds my yarn and the rack part is on the windowsill.

It seems oddly to float.

I like.

Kitties

Testing Greg's wood-burning pen.

Yep, works good.

Greg is an angel.

Maybe literally?

This pork chop dinner was ready when I got home from work at eight last night with another project to finish before bed.

Thank you my darling.

Dejeuner sur l'herbe

This jumped out at me as I made my way home last night:

What does it mean?

And what does the Manet painting signify to Poles? I don't think a pastiche like this would mean much to most Americans.

Mystery

On our windowsill and fire escape: hunk of grass.

I did not put it there. Greg did not put it there. Our upstairs neighbors were out of town.

Was a bird trying to build a nest there??? Or maybe just left it behind after stopping for a snack?

Street shelves

A homemade unit, sliced in half.

Look what it's made of!

Wainscoting? Molding?

Way to recycle.

I grabbed those two leaning boards for our collection.

NEW OBSESSION

Tomato farming.

Neighborhood fauna

Squirrel. Eatin' bread.

"What?"

Ha.

A new bird:

We think it's a gray catbird!

A wine crate on the fire escape (for future tomatoes):

But—see the stealthy cat in the background!?!?

It stood in that position without moving for a loooooong time.

Putting down roots

Remember this?

Now look!

Look closer:

See the white root it grew?

Yay!

Kunjip

I actually may never need to eat again.

Gasp!

Rosy-breasted grosbeak. In our yard!!

Welcome.

Better pics soon I hope.

Roof drinks

Next to the highest roof of all.

Fun.

'ello dere

Please sir, may I haf some more sunfwower seeds?

Found!

Because I am an inquisitive person (especially on recycling night) I stopped to look at this on my way home last night, in front of a house on my street.

Hmmm.

Very large paper bags.

On the way back from my run later I grabbed the whole bale, lugged it home, and plunked it on the table.

Holy moly, what is that design?

Weird!

And, yes, they are big (I have normal-size feet):

The world is a very interesting place.

The future

This is the dream truck of Rebecca and Greg:

We pass it often, on our walk home from the L train.

This is where our stuff'll go:

Yep. Throw it in the back with the sand bags.

St-Viateur bagels

Truly the best in the world.

Hand rolled, boiled, baked in a wood-burning brick oven, purchased warm $6.75 for une douzaine.

Devoured.

New York bagels are not even close.

Bare legs good

Early summer evening.

Empty nesters

Our houseguest has gone back to Winnipeg.

Early summer morning in our backyard

Heaven

Drawn and Quarterly store!

They do not mind if you sit in the kids' chairs for hours reading books.

Which we did.

Zia Becca

Reading.

Is there a word that means, like, "avuncular," but for aunts?

Café Olympico

Montreal snack.

It's miniature!

And delicious.

Childhood

Sis and me (right) in bathing suits:

And with older sister Mona:

Montreal bulletin board.

Home and native land

Haven't seen one of these in a long time.

They were all over the place where I grew up—a sign of spring.
