Found!

A kind of interesting book:

It was first published in 1950 and this mass-market paperback edition is from 1959. It's not anything in particular that makes it special; it's just interesting to see what kind of books people were reading then and how paperbacks looked (and smelled and felt). For better or for worse, they just don't make them like this any more. And no back-cover review ever mentions canasta (what even IS canasta?)!

There is a lot more to books than the ideas in them. So don't go throwing them away just because you got the e-book! Give them to me!!!

Help!

There's a fungus among us.

I've been trying to nurse it but nothing is working and I don't really know what to do.

On the bus

Double whorl! Clockwise and counter clockwise.

Location of upcoming vacation

Note the proximity of the Atlantic Ocean and rawther a lot of trees.

I am panting with excitement. (It's 91 degrees in New York today and it smells like garbage, FYI.)

Launched

Greg's project on Randall's Island is officially done!

There was a reception, then a boat trip to the island. Greg gave a little talk by his work, then there were some pichures (with curators, funders, and parks officials).

On the special sod blanket.

Then some champagne and desserts under a tree (man, I love dessert). And another boat ride.

We saw two white herons and a hawk!

You know what's great?

What's great is when a baby comes to stay with you! Chris and Claudine came from Montreal and they brought Rose with them. On Sunday we went PS1 and after we looked at the art she played in some rain puddles.

Home, off with the wet clothes, then time to scamper around!! She checked out the belts (which we keep in a bushel basket, natch) then had a wild old time on the rug.

I love that little sweetheart!

"Hmm, should we justify the text left, or center it, or just start it 'wherever'? OR SOME OF EACH?"

Also: Do they pick the typefaces at random??

Your gal on the Internet

I.e., me.

Yay! This should be interesting.

I also took this book and started reading it on the way to work:

If you don't want to sob in the line at Starbucks

I suggest you leave this VERY AWESOME and VERY SAD book at home.

People will in fact stare at you.

Graham Avenue yard sale

Staples!

Their design hasn't really changed in fifty years and they don't expire. Only a crazy person would buy them new!

I probably would have purchased the entire collection ("Eljit," "Tornado," "Majestic," "Tiger Brand"—awesome!) if my friend hadn't been there to advise me otherwise. (We went to look at bicycling caps instead.)

Ladies

If the train breaks down . . .

I got us covered.

Rooftop party

Yes, there was a band.

But more important:

What was that kitty up to???

Long weekend

Our friends came to visit from Montreal and we went to the beach!

I wore this awesome hat of Greg's:

Purchased in North Carolina from a hospital thrift store.

Deck Plug. And check out the tag:

Double thumbs up, am I right?!

Condiments

The streets of Brooklyn provide.

Found!!

On the street Monday night:

Note:

Solid-wood dresser covered in golden cloth featuring Mt. Fuji!! Too heavy for me to attempt and Greg wasn't having it (exhausted from moving dirt around on Randall's Island), so I didn't investigate further. It really seemed like a nice old thing though.

I decided I didn't need this oil painting:

Due to it is hideous.

I really liked this super-old photograph (who are those guys?) but the glass was broken, so I decided to leave it.

This, on the other hand:

Now lives at my house!

I call it "Windswept."

This guy

Awesome head of wavy bright-gray hair. Don't you want to pet it?

I'd like to know

What the thinking was around this particular decision.

Wow backpack kitty!

Two roses and another daisy!

"Pleased and proud" are the only words to describe him today.
